New!2017 STP Resurfacing Project - Bode Road

Bode Road between Woodlawn Street and Roselle Road is scheduled for resurfacing this year.  Major items of work will include the removal and replacement of the pavement surface layer, curb & gutter and sidewalk repairs, pedestrian safety improvements at the intersections of Washington Boulevard and Grand Canyon Parkway, and on-street bicycle facilities.

Project Update - Week of August 21st

Concrete work is scheduled to be completed this Saturday, August 19th.  Landscaping work will occur on the north and south sides of Bode Road throughout the week.

Asphalt surface grinding is anticipated to start at the beginning of the week, with level binder paving (1st layer of asphalt) and surface paving likely to occur through the end of the week.  Please see “Level Binder Course” and “Surface Course” notes under Additional Paving Information listed below regarding Fresh Oil.  All work is weather dependent.

**Additional Paving Information**
- Level Binder Course (1st Layer of Asphalt) – Fresh Oil Signs are placed at the ends of the street between 12-24 hours prior to oil application (signs are placed on Friday prior to a Monday morning oil application).  Oil is typically placed in the early morning hours and level binder pavement is placed later that day (all work is weather dependent).  Paving signs are also placed at the ends of the street on the day prior to any asphalt installation.  Any driving on your street after the “Fresh Oil” application will be AT YOUR OWN RISK.  If street access is necessary, driving at less than 10 mph is recommended.  The Village and contractor are NOT responsible for oil on your vehicle when the “Fresh Oil” signs are standing.  This material may track onto your driveway, and/or adhere to your vehicle.

- Surface Course (Final Layer of Asphalt) - Fresh Oil Signs are placed at the ends of the street between 12-24 hours prior to oil application.  Oil is typically placed in the early morning hours and final surface pavement is placed later that day (all work is weather dependent).  Paving signs are also placed at the ends of the street on the day prior to surface asphalt installation.

Remember cell phone use is prohibited in construction work zones and as always, please proceed with caution while driving in work zones.  All work is weather dependent.

BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN PROJECT - SHOE FACTORY ROAD AND I-90 UNDERCROSSING

I-90 Crossing adjacent to the CN Railroad Right of Way - Updated 2/13/17
A project has been in development for several years on a plan to construct a path connecting the Prairie Stone Business Park to the Shoe Factory Road trail.  A portion of the proposed path requires approvals from Canadian National Railway.  Despite ongoing efforts by the Village, agreement with the railroad has not been reached.  As such, the timing of when this work might occur is very uncertain.  The project is a joint effort among the Village, Hoffman Estates Park District, and the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.  The scope is to provide a paved bicycle / pedestrian undercrossing of I-90 along the CN Railroad Right-of-Way to link the Shoe Factory Road path to the Prairie Stone Business Park.  The work would also involve paving the section of earth / gravel path between the CN Railroad Right-of-Way and IL-59.  A connection from the multi-use trail on the north side of Shoe Factory Road to the Prairie Stone Business Park Nature Trail System would be created.  Please click here to view a general concept of the project.
