Health and Human Services offering flu shots in October

Post Date:09/28/2017 10:30 AM
A yearly flu vaccine is the most important step to protect yourself and others from the flu. Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu shot. For those who cannot receive a flu vaccine, it is important that all close contacts are immunized to help protect them from the flu.

Appointments are required for all age groups, so call Health and Human Services at 847-781-4850 to reserve your vaccine today!

Flu vaccine protects against the most common circulating viruses and can reduce illness, missed work and school, and prevent flu-related hospitalization. Please note that the nasal spray is not recommended this year.

Health and Human Services will offer the Quadrivalent vaccine for adults and children six months and older, as well as the high-dose flu vaccine for seniors age 65 and older. Adult flu vaccines are offered for $25 (cash or check only; Medicare Part B accepted).

Children’s flu shots will be offered at the Children’s Clinic beginning Monday, October 2, 2017, also by appointment only. The cost is $10 for residents of Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg, $12 for all other communities (cash or check only, Medicaid Title 19 accepted).

Please call the Flu Hotline at 847-252-5441 for more information.
